The team

  • Mark Gianniny

    Principal, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB

    With an extensive background in design and project management, Mark's passion is the transformation of innovative designs to sustainable buildings. Mark brings diverse design experience to the firm including historic preservation, medical, hospitality, education, civic and commercial projects. As Principal, Mark's collaborative and intuitive leadership style is integral to bringing complex projects to life.

    Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Norwich University in Vermont, and is certified by the US Green Building Council as a LEED Accredited Professional BD+C.

  • Steven McHenry

    Founder, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB

    Founder and consulting architect of McHenry Architecture, Steve has contributed to the fabric of our Home City of Portsmouth New Hampshire, in a multitude of ways. Initially starting as a local wood worker, he progressed into the realm of Architecture with an urge to design buildings that not only met clients’ needs but contributed to the context in which they were located. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Steve has led McHenry Architecture through the design of a diverse range of projects that include the renovation and adaptive reuse of historic structures, urban infill, commercial buildings, medical, educational, and residential projects. Steve is a member of the American Institute of Architects New Hampshire Chapter and a US Green Building Council LEED-Accredited Professional.

  • Richard Desjardins

    Architect, AIA, NCARB

    Richard is a Registered Architect holding a Master's of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. His interests lie in the details of urban and context driven design focusing on the human interaction with architecture and the city. As an Adjunct Faculty member at Wentworth, he spends the fall semester instructing the next generation of Architects formative skills that will be used throughout their careers. Within the office, he aids projects at all stages of design and construction and contributes to most of the computer drafting and modeling, using programs such as Revit, SketchUp, and CAD while maintaining their respective standards. Richard is licensed in the state of Massachusetts and brings over five years of professional experience and industry knowledge.

  • Emma Weir

    Designer, Assoc. AIA

    Emma holds a Bachelor's Degree in both Architectural and Environmental Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York. She is involved in many aspects of the design process, working with Architects to bring projects from schematic design through to construction documentation. She believes architecture is about creating spaces for growth, while reducing impacts on the natural environment. Having grown up in the seacoast area, Emma enjoys working alongside her local community and helping to preserve the historical charm of the city and surrounding area.
